About "As You Like It"

Appalachian "As You Like It": Bard Goes Bluegrass

Annapolis Shakespeare Company serves up "As You Like It" Appalachian-style, with an inventive and bluegrass-inflected take on Shakespeare's ultimate romantic comedy. Head back to the hills and hollers of '30s Appalachia to meet Rosalind (Teresa Spencer), daughter of an exiled duke, who falls madly in love with the dashing Orlando (Jonathan Feuer). When she's banished from the duke's court, Rosalind disguises herself as a boy and flees to the forest ... and then things get weird (and hilarious). Gender roles, nature and politics are confused in this comedy that perfectly captures how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be. Featuring Broadway veteran Richard Pilcher as Jacques and directed by Sally Boyett, this special production delights the eyes, ears and heart at Studio 111.
