About "Bright Room Called Day"

Tony Kushner's "Bright Room Called Day"

Pulitzer and Tony-winning playwright Tony Kushner ("Angels in America", "Lincoln") set this 1985 drama in early-1930s Germany, where a bohemian actress and her friends try to grapple with the implications of Hitler's rise to power. "A Bright Room Called Day" also intersperses scenes of an American woman living in 1980s New York, who's dealing with a similar set of concerns about Ronald Reagan and the rise of conservatism. St. Mark's Players bring this ever-timely work about citizenship, resistance and complicity to the stage at their DC church.
