The Dali Quartet: Classical Roots & Latin Soul

Named after avant-garde Spanish artist Salvador Dali, the exciting young Dali Quartet is blazing its own innovative trail with a unique blend of classical favorites and Latin American music. They'll be joined by the Philadelphia Orchestra's principal clarinetist Ricardo Morales for this concert at Columbia's Horowitz Performing Arts Center, where they'll perform the North American premiere of Quintet for Strings and Clarinet by Puerto Rican composer-guitarist Luis Enrique JuliĆ”. JuliĆ” was nominated for an '09 Latin Grammy for Best Classical Album, which featured this piece. Also on the program are works by the legendary Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos, Latin jazz and classical composer Paquito D'Rivera (a Grammy and National Medal of Arts winner), and "La oracion del torero" by Spain's Joaquin Turina.
