GWUL 44th Annual Whitney M Young Jr Memorial Gala

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –The Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL) Honors the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday by selecting this day of Service to announce the 2016 “Unsung Heroes” Award Honorees; we will celebrate these community heroes Friday, March 11th, during the 44th Annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial Gala to be held at the beautiful Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, DC. The Honoree’s will receive awards in the following categories:
Unsung Visionary, President William J. Clinton
Unsung Philanthropist, Theodore John Leonsis, CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment
Unsung Corporate Community Uplift Award, Gina F. Adams, Senior Vice President for Government Affairs of FedEX Corporation
Unsung Impact Leader, Tina Frundt, Founder & Executive Director of Courtney’s House
Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree the Legendary Patti LaBelle; will also give a full performance during the Gala
The Gala will be full of excitement and surprises from the VIP reception with Jazz artist and GWUL Ambassador Marcus Johnson, special announcer WPGC’s Guy Lambert and returning as Master of Cermonies NBC 4 news anchor Jim Vance. You will also have many wonderful gifts to select from during our silent and Live Auctions. The funds raised at the Gala assists the GWUL in continuing it’s work in the DC Metro community with programs in areas such as Home Ownership, Entrepreneurship and Scholarship.
