"Ironbound": Working-Class Woman Faces Tough Choices

This prizewinning drama explores the life of Darja, a hardworking Polish immigrant, as it unfolds over the course of more than 20 years, returning to one particular New Jersey bus stop. Now in her 40s, Darja's breaking up with her latest unfaithful mate, while flashing back to two difficult prior relationships, one of which resulted in her troubled son Alex. Now, she's forced to decide just how much of her fiercely earned pride and self-respect she's willing to sacrifice for her now-adult offspring. Written by up-and-coming playwright Martyna Majok, "Ironbound" takes the stage at Bethesda's Round House Theatre as part of the Women's Voices Theater Festival.
