About Jammin Java Local Scene: Faded Giant + The Vurge + Ms. Frizzle
The VURGE is a new, up and coming, rock and roll band! A high energy combination of new and old classics with some brand new original music.
Faded Giant is an alternative rock power trio from Fairfax, VA. Mixing intensity and honest expression, Faded Giant crafts original music that is hard-hitting and emotionally affecting. Their sound is heavily influenced by the alt/grunge/indie rock music of the ‘90s as well as the diversity of its members’ musical tastes. Prepare to be won over by the catchy hooks, intelligent songwriting, and unapologetically bombastic delivery of these three DC-area veterans.
Formed from the ashes of local upstarts Elements of Addiction in 2011, Faded Giant’s members put in their time with a number of local acts over the years. Singer/Guitarist Chris Sherman has been writing, playing and singing in the area since high school. His first band, a punk-inspired group called Lapdog, played their first show at legendary local venue Jaxx in 1998. Bassist Greg Guevara also grew up in the area and was the front man for the dark indie, new wave-influenced Anti-Social Club. Their frenetic drummer and elder statesman is Eric Gaudette. Big E has been pounding the skins for over 20 years in local outfits such as Ink Underneath and Enemy of Three. Between them they have the collective experience of bands many times their age, and have played nearly every venue in the NOVA/DC area.
Faded Giant’s goal is to become one the DC area’s most respected original rock bands, with an eye toward playing the more prestigious local venues in support of larger touring acts.
