About "The Miss Firecracker Contest"
"The Miss Firecracker Contest": Southern-Fried Family Comedy
Beth Henley, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of "Crimes of the Heart", serves up another of her fine Southern-fried comedies. This funny and heartfelt play focuses on Carnelle Scott, a pageant hopeful with a large and dysfunctional family, who believes that winning the Miss Firecracker Contest will restore her reputation and vastly improve her life. But her path to the crown and sash becomes complicated when a cousin, a former Miss Firecracker winner, arrives unexpectedly. This production at Laurel Mill Playhouse is directed by Patrick Pase.Comments
