About WHEDONISM: A burlesque tribute to Joss Whedon

Since 2012, The Evil League of Ecdysiasts (also known as "the ELE") has sold out shows at The Black Cat (DC), The Windup Space (MD), and the Red Palace (DC), with Whedonism: A Burlesque Tribute to Joss Whedon; Pastius Revelio: A Burlesque Tribute to Harry Potter; and most recently, Al Night Long: A Burlesque Tribute to “Weird Al” Yankovic. Producers Cherie Sweetbottom and GiGi Holliday return to the Black Cat with the show that started it all three years ago—Whedonism: A Burlesque Tribute to Joss Whedon.

Writer, director, producer, evil mastermind, and creative genius Joss Whedon has created some of the most beloved and influential shows in pop culture, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. His films include Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, The Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers, and its sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. He is a force to be reckoned with, and how better to show our love and appreciation than with live music and a bevy of burlesque beauties?

Whedonism features DC musician Maryjo Mattea (Two Dragons and a Cheetah, Dr. Robert & Penny Lane) and burlesque performers Diva Darling, Ruby Lipschtick, Lady Fancy, Isabelle Epoque, Jane Ostentatious; stage kitten Heart O. Harkness, and of course, producers Cherie Sweetbottom and GiGi Holliday.
